MyStudentBody's Advisory Board ensures the ongoing integrity of the program through regular consultation. It is comprised of preeminent experts in the public and mental health fields as well as distinguished professors at leading universities. Together, this five-member board has collectively authored more than 300 abstracts, articles, chapters, and books.
Amy Cavender, M.Ed.Amy Cavender serves as the Human Sexuality Educator for Community Action's Community Health Services, a family planning program in central Texas. She has nine years of experience in sexuality education and outreach and currently is a member of the Primary Prevention Advisory Council for the Hays-Caldwell Women's Center. Her areas of interest are primary sexual assault prevention, sexual health for people with substance abuse issues, and the epidemiology of STIs. She is also the Customer Implementation Specialist for Inflexxion's MyStudentBody. Prior to her work for Inflexxion, Ms. Cavender worked at Louisiana State University, where she served as a Wellness Education Coordinator, and oversaw one of the first large-scale MyStudentBody first-year requirements.
Jim Matthews, M.Ed.Jim Matthews, M.Ed. is currently the Coordinator of Health Education at Merrimack College in Massachusetts. Matthews is a certified trainer for the Prevention Research Institute, has a Certificate in Chemical Dependency Therapy, was a participant in the Professional in Residence Program at the Betty Ford Center in California, and is the author of Beer, Booze and Books...a sober look at higher education, The Parent’s Guide to College Drinking, and The ABCs of College Drinking. The NCAA has approved Matthews' presentations as part of its Sports Sciences Speaker Program. Matthews has spoken to over 300,000 students on more than 300 campuses throughout the country.
Joseph A. Greenberg, Ph.D.Dr. Greenberg is Professor Emeritus in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at George Washington University (GWU). Currently, Dr. Greenberg is GWU’s Director of Admissions for New England. Dr. Greenberg is a training and educational specialist in the fields of higher educational administration, adult education, and training and development in business, industry, military, and government. He has served as a faculty member and administrator in several community and junior colleges, as well as having held faculty appointments at Boston University, The American Open University, and Kyonggi University (Seoul, Korea). Dr. Greenberg has authored more than 70 publications.
Steve Sussman, Ph.D., F.A.A.H.B., F.A.P.A.Dr. Steve Sussman is a professor of preventive medicine and psychology at the University of Southern California. Dr. Sussman is interested in the topic of addictions broadly defined. He primarily conducts research in the prediction, prevention, and cessation of tobacco and other drug abuse. He was the principal investigator of Project Towards No Tobacco Use (Project TNT). Project TNT is a tobacco use prevention and cessation project among young teens, which was endorsed nationally by the Centers for Disease Control as a “Program That Works” (1997-2002). He has published over 320 articles, chapters, abstracts, or books in the arena of drug use and abuse (40 of which have been cited by 25 or more academic sources).
Tavis Glassman, Ph.D.Dr. Tavis Glassman serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toledo teaching Drug Awareness and Human Sexuality courses. He has over a decade of experience working in the health education field and currently serves on campus, community, and state coalitions concerning alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drug use. His research interests include alcohol consumption on game day and 21st birthdays among college students, as well as the design, implementation, and evaluation of social marketing messages. Prior to his new position, Dr. Glassman served as the Coordinator of Alcohol & Other Drug Prevention at the University of Florida and was successful in reducing the high-risk drinking rate UF by 19% over a four-year period, through a combination of social marketing and environmental management strategies.
