Course Questions

Why do I have to take a MyStudentBody course?

Many schools have a MyStudentBody requirement. MyStudentBody helps to ensure that you have the same base of knowledge as other students at your school. Although alcohol and other drug use do not present a problem for most students, substance abuse and experimentation is an issue that affects the entire community. Even if you know a lot about alcohol and drugs, it doesn’t hurt to have a refresher – especially when you may be in a situation where you could help other people.

If you choose to drink, MyStudentBody can help you make safe decisions; if you don't drink, MyStudentBody can help you handle situations where other people are drinking.

What’s the deadline for completing the course?

You’ll need to check with your school, since the deadline for completing a course is different for each school.

What are the consequences if I do not complete the course?

You should check with your school, since that depends on your school’s policy.

What do I need to do to complete a course?

Accessing the course:
You should start by logging in to MyStudentBody, then clicking on either the Alcohol or Drugs section, depending on the course you were instructed to take. If you haven’t visited MyStudentBody before, you will be prompted to complete a self-assessment that will give you personalized feedback. After you complete the assessment, you can begin the course by clicking Start Your Course and selecting the course that you’re required to take.

Course path:
You will be guided through a pre-quiz of 20 randomized questions (25 questions for the Drugs course). After the pre-quiz, you’ll see a menu of content that you will need to read before proceeding to the post-quiz. Once you’ve read an article or used a tool in the menu, it will be checked off. You can then proceed to the post-quiz, which is also comprised of 20 randomized questions (25 questions for the Drugs course). If you pass the post-quiz, you’ll be presented with certificate of completion. If you do not attain a passing score, you can review the content again and take another post-quiz.

How long does it take to complete a course?

A course typically takes between 45-90 minutes to complete.

Is my work saved if I don’t complete the course all at once?

You do not have to complete the course in one sitting. At any time during the content review, you can use the Log Out button in the upper right corner, and your course progress will be saved.

Please note that you cannot log out during the pre-quiz or post-quiz – your answers will not be saved.

How will I know when I have completed the course?

The course consists of three parts: a pre-quiz, your review of articles, tools, and other content, and a post quiz. You will have completed the course after you take the post-quiz and receive a certificate of completion.

We recommend that you complete the satisfaction survey as well, to help us improve the program.

I have started the wrong course. How can I start the correct one?

You can submit a request here to reset your course. Once it has been reset you can select the correct course.

I need to email my completion certificate. How do I do that?

If you’ve just completed the course and you’re still in the program and can see the certificate of completion on your computer screen, you can use the fields on the left-hand side of the screen to email the certificate to up to five people.

If you completed the course and logged out of the program, you can log back in any time to retrieve the certificate of completion. After logging in, click into the Alcohol or Drugs section, depending on the course you took/which certificate you are looking for. You will see an option for viewing certificates in the upper part of the Alcohol section, or the left side of the Drugs section. You can then select the desired certificate, and fill in the fields to send it by email.

Do I have to email my certificate to get credit for the course?

You’ll need to check the instructions that you received from your school. Your school’s MyStudentBody administrator has access to reports indicating whether or not a student has completed a course, but it might also be necessary for you to submit a printed or emailed copy to complete your school’s records.

I took MyStudentBody at my old school - do I have to take it again?

That depends on your school’s policy, so you’ll need to check with your school’s MyStudentBody administrator. MyStudentBody cannot provide your school administrators with confirmation that you have completed a MyStudentBody course at another school; however, some schools may accept a paper or emailed certificate as proof that you have already completed the course.

I’ve exceeded the maximum attempts, but haven’t passed. Now what?

After a number of attempts at taking the MyStudentBody course you will not be able to continue. You can contact your school’s MyStudentBody administrator and ask to have additional attempts added to your account.

I took MyStudentBody and now am asked to take another assessment. Why?

Your school has requested that you return to MyStudentBody to complete a follow-up assessment – typically, the follow-up is requested 30, 60, or 90 days after you took the initial assessment. You will be notified when it is time to take the follow-up assessment through an email from MyStudentBody.

When you complete the follow-up assessments, you can get updated feedback about your behaviors and attitudes concerning alcohol. Your school can also use de-identified information from these assessments to see if there have been any changes in the self-reported attitudes and behaviors in the student body over time.

To complete the assessments, simply log in to MyStudentBody and click into the Alcohol section. You will be guided through the Drinking Profile and Rate Myself assessments. The assessment will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Once you have returned to the Alcohol home page, you’re finished – there is no need to take the full course again. You’re welcome to explore the site at your leisure.
